Meet the Wine master of Rush Creek, Ron Barr!Ron brings his wine making passion to Rush Creek Wines to ensure that our customers can expect the same high qualities and award winning wines that they have appreciated in the past crafted by winemaker Kim Flintoft.
He plans to expand his menu of wines by incorporating the unique blends from the Carolinian Winery with the deliciously established ones of Rush Creek Wines. Ron's intentions are to keep everyone informed as what is presently bottled and what is coming soon as well as keeping those true wine lovers abreast of behind the scenes notes. Ron Barr is a 53 year old - married (Phyllis) and father of three (Rebecca 24 & 23 year old twins Jessica & Jeffrey) who have lived in the village of Russell since 2001.
Born in 1961 and raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Barr’s father Jack moved the family to Sudbury, Ontario in 1974 where he was named Fire Chief at the age of 42 and at the time one of the youngest to hold such a position in Canada.
Barr has a long history in the harness racing industry where he serves in many capacities at senior management levels including general manager, vice president of marketing and track announcer. He has called over 10,800 races in his illustrious career. At age 38 he was named General Manager and director of racing at Rideau Carleton Raceway. In November 2003 Barr was recognized by the racing industry for his dedication to the sport in a track side ceremony.
Barr’s community involvement runs deep and he is responsible for coordinating over 300 fundraising events. He has also chaired numerous committees and organizations and is a past president of the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce.
He was re-elected to the Chamber board four years later. Barr was the driving force in the battle for smoker’s rights and his advice was sought throughout the province of Ontario by the industry.
Barr holds an accounting diploma (honours), a BA in marketing and is continuing his studies at Carleton University in the Sprott School of Business program.
